Upgrade FTEnterprise to FTSuite v3.0

Summary

How to upgrade from Foxtrot Enterprise Suite or MyFoxtrot Suite to Foxtrot Suite v3.0 on a Windows server or any client PC.

 

Resolution

Server Application:   (which is also used for single installs)

1.       Copy all files that are in the Foxtrot program directory to another location (This step is temporary and serves to backup Foxtrot settings until the upgrade is complete).

2.       Uninstall Foxtrot Enterprise Suite or myFoxtrot Suite from Add/Remove Programs located in the control panel.

3.       Reboot machine. (if possible)

4.       Download the new Foxtrot Suite v3.0 from EnableSoft’s website.

5.       Run the installation executable and select the Foxtrot Server installation option.

6.       Make the Foxtrot Suite Folder a shared folder.  This can be done using the following steps: Right Click of Start>Click Explore>expand Program Files>Right Click on Foxtrot Suite>Select Share Folder. At this point you will need to grant Read, Write & Modify NTFS permissions as well as Read & Change share permissions to all users who will use Foxtrot. 

7.       Open the Admin Center via Start>All Programs>Foxtrot Suite>Foxtrot Tools> Foxtrot Admin Center (You must an administrator account to login into the Admin Center).

8.       Click on the Global Defaults & Licensing tab.

9.       Click on Manage Licenses button.

10.   Enter the Product Key given to you by an EnableSoft representative.

11.   Click Activate Licenses.

12.   Click OK.

13.   In the section labeled Activate Licenses select the amount of licenses you wish to activate and click Activate.

14.   You should get a pop up message stating success. Click OK.

15.   You can now close the Admin Center and open Foxtrot.

16.   Cleanup. Once the Foxtrot upgrade is successful, you can remove the old backup files from their temporary location.

      Client Application:

1.       Copy all files that are in the Foxtrot program directory to another location (This step is temporary and serves to backup Foxtrot settings until the upgrade is complete).

2.       Uninstall Foxtrot Enterprise Suite or myFoxtrot Suite from Add/Remove Programs located in the control panel.

3.       Reboot machine. (if possible)

4.       Download the new Foxtrot Suite v3.0 from EnableSoft’s website.

5.       Run the installation executable and select the Client installation option.

6.       Open the Admin Center and click on the Workstation Setup tab.

7.       Type or Browse to the location of the shared file or network drive containing the location of the shared Foxtrot Suite folder on the Foxtrot Server.

8.       Close Admin Center and open Foxtrot.

9.       Cleanup. Once the Foxtrot upgrade is successful, you can remove the old backup files from their temporary location.

 

 

Note

If you have a Novell File Server you must use Foxtrot v3.0.1
