Here are the instructions and an example use for the Set Variable Action.
If FoxtrotOne is not sending the data base value correctly to the target application, the format of the data base field can be the issue. To resolve - use the Set Variable Action to insert the data base field into a variable, then create a separate action to send the variable to the location on the screen.
First you have to create a variable.
1. Click the variable view on the view center and click add under the options menu.
2. Name the variable appropriately
3. Click Ok.
To Set the Variable:
1. On the left side of Foxtrot you will see the NON-Interactive actions. Click the Action labeled – 
2. Once the Set Variable screen appears click the ellipse on the Select a variable: – select the variable you created and click OK.
3. Select the Wand on the Enter a value option then select the data base field name or any value you wish to enter into the variable.
4. Click Ok to save the action.
Now the action for sending the variable to the screen needs to be created.
1. Click the selector tool and drag to location on the target application and release.
2. Now the action menu appears select the send data action. Click the wand and choose the Variable option from the left. Select the variable that was created. Click OK
Now on every record FoxtrotOne will transfer the value from the data base field selected, into the variable and send the value to the field on the targeted application.
