Save Script As Form Does Not Appear

4/18/07

Applies to:  Foxtrot LE

Summary

When saving a script by clicking the ’Save Script’ menu item, or ’Save Scripts As’ icon, Foxtrot doesn’t display the ’Save Script As’ form when connected to one of the Attachmate Extra! Family of emulators.

Cause

Attachmate installs an older version of the Windows file, MFC42.DLL, in its installation directory.  When the emulator is started it loads the older version of MFC42.DLL (most commonly file ver. 4.21.0.7022, product ver. 5.0.0.0) into memory instead of the newer version located in the Windows System folder (version could vary)

Resolution

Locate Extra’s installation directory, usually ’C:\Program Files\Extra!’ or similar.  Locate the file ’MFC42.DLL’ within that directory and rename it; Extra uses the newer version supplied by Windows without any problem.

To Resolve the Issue:

1.   Close the emulator and close Foxtrot.

2.    Locate the installation directory for Extra! on your computer (usually something like ’C:\Program Files\Extra’) and locate the file ’MFC42.DLL’.

3.   RENAME the file located in the installation directory for Extra! from ’MFC42.DLL’ to ’MFC42EXTRA.DLL’.

4.   Locate ’MFC42.DLL’ in your Windows System folder.  The path for your Windows System folder depends on your operating system as follows (the drive letter can vary, but the default is ’C’):

                               Windows 95, Windows 98: C:\Windows\System

                               Windows NT, Windows 2000: C:\WINNT\System32

                               Windows XP: C:\Windows\System32

5.  Copy ’MFC42.DLL’ from the Windows System folder to the installation directory for Extra.

6.  Restart the emulator and restart Foxtrot.

7.  Try ’Save Script As’.  The form should successfully display
