Excel Crashes on Starting Foxtrot

8/3/10

Applies to:  FoxtrotOne and Foxtrot LE

Summary:

User has Microsoft Office 2007 installed and is attempting to import a .csv file into Foxtrot LE or FoxtrotOne and receives the following error during the import process.

Resolution:

User may have the “Microsoft Office Live Add-in” enabled in Excel 2007.  The following steps show how to disable this add-in to resolve this issue.

Step 1:  Launch Excel.

Step 2:  Click the big round button in the top-left corner of Excel to display the menu as in the following screenshot.  Click the “Excel Options” button at the bottom of the menu.

Step 3:  When the following “Excel Options” window appears, click “Add-Ins” on the left navigation bar.  If you see “Microsoft Office Live Add-in” in the list, this fix may work.  Select “COM Add-ins” from the dropdown list, then click the “Go” button.

Step 4: When the following “COM Add-Ins” window appears, be sure to UN-check the “Microsoft Office Live Add-In” item, then click “OK” two times to save the changed.

Step 5:  Close Excel and Foxtrot.  Re-launch Foxtrot and attempt to import the .csv file.  Everything should import just fine.
