Important Upgrade Information: To ensure proper operation, all Foxtrot servers and workstations are required to run the same version. Upgrade the Foxtrot server first, followed by all Foxtrot workstations. Uninstalling will never delete Foxtrot scripts or databases. All scripts authored in previous versions of Foxtrot will still work in the latest version. Upgrades are included as part of your maintenance agreement for Enterprise Edition.

What's New

Version 11.5.1

Improved Browser Technology

Foxtrot’s Browser Technology has been improved to reduce the amount of consumed memory on the system.

Improved Window Targeting

Foxtrot’s Window Targeting Technology has been improved to handle class names containing multiple semicolon characters. This means Foxtrot can now work with a wider range of targets.

Improved PDF Targeting

Foxtrot’s PDF Targeting Technology has been improved to work more reliably. Now Foxtrot can work with the Print window in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader.

New Tandem 6530 Emulator Support

Foxtrot is now capable of interacting with the following Tandem 6530 terminal emulators.

  • Attachmate Reflection Workspace
  • CAIL

Improved Multi-Monitor Support

Browser Targeting is now more reliable when working with multiple monitors.

New Target Options

New options are available on the Advanced tab for certain browser targets. The user can now control how the Target Element Caption is verified by selecting the new Best Match or
Trailing Match option.

Fixed: Slow Speed Problem

Foxtrot now runs much faster when interacting with browser targets.

Fixed: Unzip Action

In previous versions, an Unzip Action would fail with an ‘Unknown Error’ when dealing with a Zip64 file format. This has been fixed and an error message is now properly displayed explaining that Zip64 files are not supported in Foxtrot.

Fixed: Question Action

In previous versions, the Question Action would lock up when run if the Action referenced a token that did not exist (such as a missing Variable). This has been fixed in this version.

Fixed: Lock Action

In some scenarios, a Lock Action created in an older version of Foxtrot would not work when run in a newer version of Foxtrot. This has been fixed in this version.

Fixed: Search Action

When executing a Search Action on a browser table, if the Action specifies an “Exact Match” for the Action, Foxtrot erroneously highlights the first partial match that it finds. This bug has been fixed.

Fixed: Undo/Redo

In previous versions, the Undo and Redo feature would not properly restore the step in certain scenarios when dealing with ‘If, Else and End If’ and ‘Loop and End Loop’ Action sets. This has been fixed in this version.

Fixed: Error Handling

Certain Actions set to target an item in a highlighted browser table would fail to adhere to the specified Error Handling settings. This has been fixed in the following Actions: Click,
Copy Data, Pixel Exists, Screenshot, Select Item, Send Data, and (in certain scenarios) Search.

Fixed: Foxtrot Administrator Setting

In previous versions of Foxtrot Administrator, the application would not properly save the setting for ‘Days to save messages’ on the Globals tab. This has been fixed in this version.

Fixed: Activity History

In previous versions of Foxtrot Administrator, the Activity History would not clear properly. This has been fixed in this version.

Fixed: Tandem Emulator Keys

Certain emulator keys (such as F11 thru F16, and Shift+F11 thru Shift+F16) where implemented with incorrect mnemonic codes. As a result, these keys were not recognized by the Attachmate Reflection 6530 and CAIL Tandem 6530 emulators. The mnemonic codes have been corrected and these keys now work recognized by these emulators.

Version 11.1

Improved Browser Technology

This version of Foxtrot’s Browser Technology provides improved reliability. In certain scenarios, previous versions of Foxtrot would cause a browser application to freeze when a button is clicked that triggers Javascript or jQuery code. This problem is resolved in this version of Foxtrot.

Version 11.0.8

Improved Detection Technology

The detection technologies for web browsers, Excel workbook,s and PDF documents have been improved. This allows Foxtrot to find targets more reliably.

Improved Image Viewer

The Image Viewer now includes a Copy option allowing a user to copy the displayed image so it can be pasted into third party applications.

Improved File Prompt Action

When running a File Prompt Action, the user is now able to type a file path as well as browse for a file path. In previous versions, a user was unable to type the file path.

Improved Unlock Action

The Unlock Action has been improved to work in a wider range of environments. In previous versions, the Unlock Action may fail even after the workstation is successfully unlocked. This problem has been fixed.

Fixed: Open Data Action Error

In previous versions, if an Open Data Action attempted to import data containing two like field names, an error would display, even if only one of the fields was selected for import. This has been fixed.

Fixed: Resize Image Action

When editing a Resize Image Action, the width in pixels value would be lost. This has been fixed.

Fixed: Unzip Action

In previous versions, an Unzip Action would only unzip first level folders within a zip file and then produce an error when attempting to unzip nested folders. This problem has been fixed in this version.

Fixed: Editing PDF Actions Fail to Find Target

In previous versions, if a PDF Action was edited, Foxtrot would always fail to find the target. This has been fixed, and the target is now properly found.

Fixed: Switching Projects in Foxtrot Extender

In previous versions, if a user changed the project path setting in Foxtrot Extender, the new project would not load properly in some scenarios. This has been fixed.

Fixed: Freeze When Editing Mouse Sequence

In previous versions, Foxtrot would freeze if the user attempted to edit an Action found inside a Mouse Sequence. This problem has been fixed in this version.

Improved Diagnostics

Foxtrot’s diagnostic tools have been improved allowing EnableSoft to better troubleshoot problems with Foxtrot Unlocker as well as the Lock and Unlock Actions.

Version 11.0.6

Improved Browser Detection

Foxtrot now detects Internet Explorer windows more reliably, especially in newer versions of Internet Explorer.

Fixed: Foxtrot Lock Up

In certain scenarios, Foxtrot would lock up while targeting the titlebar of some windows. This problem has been resolved.

Version 11.0.5

New Undo and Redo Feature

Foxtrot is now equipped with an Undo and Redo feature. Now you can easily undo changes made to the Project.

New PDF Form Technology

Foxtrot is now equipped with new technology for handling PDF forms. Working with PDF forms is easy – simply drag and drop the Selector onto the PDF document to create a Connection. Once the Connection is created, drag the Selector again to any field on the PDF form to begin creating Actions. Foxtrot can interact with PDF forms opened in Adobe® Acrobat®. Adobe® Reader® is not supported.

All the familiar Actions will be available (such as Click, Send Data and many more). Additional PDF Actions have also been added for convenience:

  • Close PDF – Closes the target PDF document.
  • Open PDF – Opens a PDF document.
  • Print PDF – Prints the target PDF document.
  • Save PDF – Saves the target PDF document.

For advanced users, the following Actions are available to dynamically create PDF connections as a script runs:

  • Delete Connection – Deletes a specific PDF connection in the project.
  • Set Connection – Assigns a connection letter to a specific PDF document.

Finally, the following Actions can be used to fine tune the timing while working with PDF documents in problematic scenarios.

  • Detect PDFs – Force detect the running PDF documents.

New Unlock Action

Foxtrot is now equipped with an Unlock Action that unlocks a locked workstation. By adding an Unlock Action to the beginning of your script, Foxtrot can unlock the locked workstation to run a script.

Note: The Unlock Action must first by authorized in the Foxtrot Administrator application before it can be used. The user must also have local admin rights. Additionally, the Foxtrot Unlocker must be installed (which is a separate install).

NewFeature_UnlockAction

Improved Lock Action

The Lock Workstation Action found in previous versions of Foxtrot is now referred to as the Lock Action. The Lock Action now offers an option to allow a script to continue running after the workstation is locked.

NewFeature_ImprovedLockAction

New Image Actions

Image Actions have been added allowing easier manipulation of image files:

  • Border Image – Adds a border to the sides of an image.
  • Close Image – Closes the image currently open in the Image Viewer.
  • Crop Image – Crops an image.
  • Flip Image – Flips an image horizontally and/or vertically.
  • Grayscale Image – Converts the image to grayscale.
  • Join Images – Combines two images into one.
  • Label Image – Adds a label to an image.
  • Open Image – Opens an image in the Image Viewer.
  • Pad Image – Adds extra spacing to the sides of an image.
  • Resize Image – Resizes an image to the desired dimensions.
  • Rotate Image – Rotates an image.
  • Save Image – Saves the image currently open in the Image Viewer.
  • Trim Image – Removes the extra spacing from the sides of an image.

The following image formats are supported:

  • Bitmap (*.bmp)
  • GIF (*.gif)
  • JPEG (*.jpeg, *.jpg)
  • PNG (*.png)

Image Actions can work with an image file or an image opened in the Image Viewer. Foxtrot’s integrated Image Viewer is used to open and view images thus eliminating the need to have a third party image viewer installed. The Image Viewer can be opened by clicking Tools > Image Viewer on the menu.

New Zip and Unzip Actions

Foxtrot is now equipped with Zip and Unzip Actions making it easier to compress and decompress files using the industry standard ZIP format:

  • Unzip – Unzips files and/or folders.
  • Zip – Zips files and/or folders.

New Sort List Action

A Sort List Action is now available, giving you the ability to sort Lists contained in the Project.

For example, use a Sort List Action to re-order a list of files by their Date Last Modified. Now when Foxtrot loops through the sorted list, it will work with the newest (or oldest) files first.

  • Sort List – Sorts a list by the desired column.

New Protect Sheet and Unprotect Sheet Excel Actions

The following new Excel Actions have been added to Foxtrot:

  • Protect Sheet – In Excel, protects a sheet.
  • Unprotect Sheet – In Excel, unprotects a sheet.

Stronger Encryption

Send Data Actions that have their value set to be encrypted will now be encrypted using a stronger encryption algorithm. In previous versions of Foxtrot, values were encrypted using the Foxtrot Encryption Algorithm. Going forward, these values will be encrypted using the stronger Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). All Send Data Actions created in older versions will be automatically converted to use the new stronger encryption.

Fixed: Foxtrot Extender Unable to Open Projects

In certain scenarios, Foxtrot Extender v11.0.3 was unable to read and open a project file. This bug has been fixed and projects can now be opened with no problem.

Fixed: Foxtrot Recent Documents

In certain scenarios, the user’s list of Recent Documents would be lost after upgrading to Foxtrot Suite v11.0.3. This bug has been fixed.

Fixed: Foxtrot Legacy Preferences

In certain scenarios, the user’s Foxtrot Legacy preferences would be lost after upgrading to Foxtrot Suite v11.0.3. This has been fixed.

Fixed: SQL Import

In certain scenarios, users were unable to import data from a Microsoft SQL Server into Foxtrot. This has been fixed and data is now imported successfully.

Fixed: Freeze when Editing Open Workbook Action

If a user attempts to edit an Open Workbook Action while the target workbook is closed, Foxtrot would freeze indefinitely until the user either manually opened the target workbook, or manually restarted Foxtrot. This has been fixed, and Foxtrot will no longer freeze in this scenario.
